LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team began fall practice today at 10 a.m. at Dan Law Field and will continue fall workouts until Sept. 22nd.
Texas Tech completed the 2001 campaign with a 43-20-1 overall record finishing in second place in the Big 12 Conference and was runner-up at the Cal-State Fullerton NCAA Regional last May. Texas Tech returns six starters from last year's squad and is loaded with talent meaning this could be an outstanding season on the diamond for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech is starting fall baseball workouts earlier than usual due to construction at Dan Law Field. The university is currently in phase-one of renovations at Dan Law as a new clubhouse, outfield wall, exterior fence and an interior brick facade will be new additions for the 2002 season. The new clubhouse will feature a major-league dressing room, a training room, equipment room, coach's dressing rooms and offices and indoor batting cages. Work on the outfield wall will not begin until the conclusion of fall practice, which has forced the early start date.
Texas Tech will practice each day at 2:30 p.m. except for Sundays and Wednesdays and all practices are open to the public. The annual Red & Black series will begin on Sept. 20th and conclude on Sept. 22nd.
