Red Raiders Fall In First Match of Weekend

Dallas, Texas - The injury plagued Texas Tech men's tennis team fell to the University of Texas-Arlington today at the UTA Tennis Center, 4-2 falling to 2-3 on the year. The 2000 Southland Conference Champs improve to 16-8.
The two victories for the Red Raiders came in the No. 2 and 3 positions. Freshman Ben Gudzelak defeated Per-Erik Karlsson of UTA in three-sets, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8. He improves to 4-1 on the year and 2-1 in the No. 2 position.
In the No. 3 postion sophomore John Walker beat Tom Zarzeczny of UTA in three-sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8. He improves to 4-1 on the year and 1-0 in the No. 3 position.
In the No. 1 position Senior Borut Martincevic drops his fourth straight match today against Andy Leber in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6. His record drops to 1-4 with his lone victory coming against Julien Curutella of ACU in the No. 1 position.
The men did not play doubles today.
Tech is on a two-match losing streak and looks to rebound tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 24, against No. 6 TCU.
