Men's Tennis Snap Losing Streak

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's tennis team can now call their three-match losing streak history after defeating league opponent Nebraska, 5-2 today at the Lubbock High School Tennis Courts. The Red Raiders improve to 8-10, 2-4 in league action, while Nebraska falls to 7-10, 0-6 in Big 12.
Texas Tech's coach Tom Siegel switched the line-up today with Jevgenij Cariov playing in position No. 1 and Borut Martincevic in No. 2. Cariov was taken to three sets before defeating Jorge Sanchez, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Cariov improves his team leading record to 11-3, 4-2 in league play. Martincevic defeated Kai Rieke in three sets to improve his record to 8-6, 3-3 in the Big 12. Ryan Shupe defeated in Adrian Hadzialic, 7-6, 6-4 for his third straight victory.
The Red Raiders continued their success in doubles play, by winning two out of three. Cariov and Martincevic teamed-up in position No. 1 to defeat Andrew Wiese and Rieke, 8-3, improving their record to 5-4. Shupe and Jeremy Earl defeated Sanchez and Fungai Tongoona, 9-8 in position No. 2.
The men look to continue their success on the road against conference opponents Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 and 16.
