LUBBOCK, Texas - All-American Tyrone Thurman headlines a group of 21 former Red Raider football players who have committed to play in the Red-Black Alumni Flag Football Game on April 15.
The 6:30 p.m. alumni game will be held at Jones Stadium. It will precede Texas Tech's Red-Black Spring Game, which will kick off at 7 p.m. Admission to both events is free. PNB Financial presents the spring game this year.
Other notable alumni participating will be quarterback Rob Peters and linebacker Keith Cockrum from Tech's 1999 club, quarterbacks Matt Tittle, Scott Toman and Ron Reeves, and defensive back Dane Johnson.
A bevy of activities are planned around Tech's spring football game and Tech officials expect about 20,000 Red Raider fans for the event.
Saturday activities begin with the Texas Tech-Texas baseball game at Dan Law Field. First pitch is 2 p.m.
Raider Alley will be in full gear from 4-7 p.m. Raider Alley will temporarily move to its former location just southwest of Jones Stadium. There will be food and apparel vendors, along with interactive games.
Mike Pritchard and the Lightning Horns will supply the musical entertainment. The Red Raider autograph tent will feature the men's basketball team at 5:30 p.m. and the Lady Raider basketball team at 6 p.m.
Parking lots around the stadium are free and open to the public. Tailgating is encouraged.
The first 5,000 fans to enter Jones Stadium receive a PNB Financial Rally Rag. The Goin' Band from Raiderland will entertain. There will be numerous drawings for prizes.
At the conclusion of the game, the coaches and players will be available for autographs on the Jones Stadium playing field.
