Tech Nine Sweeps Baylor

The Texas Tech Red Raiders recorded their first season sweep in conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 10-6 win over the Baylor Bears. The Red Raiders improved their Big 12 record to 5-4 and won their seventh straight home game.
For the second consecutive game, Tech started quickly with eight runs in the first three innings. On the mound, Blake McGinley tossed seven innings of relief to earn his first win of the season. Baylor touched Tech starter Aaron Tims for three runs in one-third of inning before he was relieved by Matt Harbin. Harbin finshed the first inning by retiring two of three batters faced. McGinley entered the game in the second and lasted through the eighth before Kevin Tracey recorded a scoreless ninth inning.
After spotting the Bears a 3-2 lead after one inning, Texas Tech scored four runs in the second on four hits. Trey Lunsford reached on a single and scored on a two-out single by Chaz Eiguren to even the score at 3-3. With Eiguren on first and Shaun Larkin at second, Chad Landry tallied his third home of the season with a blast over the right field wall to put Tech up 6-3. From that point, the Red Raiders never looked back as McGinley allowed just two runs on three hits over the next five innings.
Tracey pitched the ninth inning for the third straight game and allowed a lead off single before retiring three straight complete the sweep for Texas Tech. The three wins by Tech marked the first time since 1995 that the Red Raiders swept the Bears.
Tech will host TCU on Wednesday at Dan Law Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Next weekend, the Red Raiders will be on the road as they go to Nebraska for a three-game set. Texas Tech will play at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
