LUBBOCK, Texas - Dana Holgorsen has filled the final on-field coaching position on Mike Leach's first Texas Tech football staff after being named as inside receiver coach today. Holgorsen followed Leach to Texas Tech in December as football quality control coordinator.
"We are happy to have Dana move over into a new and more expanded role. He is a quality addition to our on-field staff," Leach said. "Now that we have everybody in place we can continue to move forward toward spring ball and next season."
Previous coaching stops for Holgorsen, 28, include Wingate University (1999), where he was recruiting and passing game coordinator while coaching quarterbacks and receivers. He coached quarterbacks, receivers and special teams at both Mississippi College (1996-98) and Valdosta State University (1993-96).
Holgorsen was a three-year starter at wide receiver and team captain at Iowa Wesleyan College, finishing his career with 160 receptions. He helped lead IWC to the NAIA Division I playoffs.
Texas Tech begins spring drills March 21 with an eye toward the annual Red-Black Game on April 15. Kickoff for the spring game is set for 7 p.m. at Jones Stadium.
