HOUSTON, Texas - Texas Tech completed day four of workouts in preparation for its matchup with East Carolina in the inaugural galleryfurniture.com Bowl. Kick-off for the game is set for 7 p.m. (CT) on Wed., Dec. 27, at the Reliant Astrodome.
The Red Raiders hold their final workout at Rice University Sun., Dec. 24. The 1?-hour practice will begin at 3 p.m. Texas Tech will wrap up drills on Christmas day with a 5 p.m. practice at the Reliant Astrodome.
"We have had four good practices since we came to Houston," Leach said of the Red Raiders, who have been in town since Wednesday. "This team has worked hard all year and our players want to play well next Wednesday and end this season on a positive note."
The Red Raiders went through a typical Wednesday workout for the second day with the team opening practice with special teams drills, before moving into skill position workouts. Tech wrapped up practice with the first team offense and defense working against the scout team.
The game will be televised live on ESPN. Dave Barnett (play-by-play), Bill Curry (color), Mike Golic (color) and Michelle Tafoya (sideline) will call the action from the Astrodome.
The meeting between the Red Raiders and the Pirates is the first for the two schools.
The Red Raiders have played in 12 bowls in the state of Texas since the inception of the program in 1925. Eight of those games were played in El Paso at the Sun Bowl, while two were Cotton Bowl games. Tech played in the Bluebonnet Bowl in the Astrodome in 1976 and last played a bowl game in Texas at the Alamo Bowl in 1996.
