LUBBOCK, Texas - A week after being named first-team All-Big 12 by Football News and second-team all-Big 12 by the league's coaches, junior strong safety Kevin Curtis (Lubbock, Texas) has garnered three more league honors.
Curtis was named this week to the All-Big 12 first-teams of the Houston Chronicle, The Sporting News and the Dallas Morning News.
Curtis, a 2000 Football News Preseason All-American, helped anchor a Red Raider defense, which ranked among the top five in the nation in pass defense. He finished second on the team with 121 tackles. He also was second with 15 tackles for loss and tied for the team lead with two fumble recoveries. Curtis made two picks on the season, including one for a touchdown and collected two sacks. Against North Texas, Curtis made the game-saving play, tracking down a UNT receiver and forcing a fumble with under two minutes to play in the 13-7 Red Raider win.
