Tech Keeper Peese Named Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior goalkeeper Brittney Peese was named Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
The San Antonio, Texas, product allowed one goal in two matches this past weekend against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, as the Red Raiders swept a pair of conference matches at home.
In Friday's match versus Oklahoma, Peese allowed one goal and made three saves in Tech's 2-1 victory. She followed that up with seven saves against Oklahoma State on Sunday in a 4-0 victory, the first shutout of the season for the Red Raiders.
The 5-8 Peese has 57 saves on the season, ranking her fifth in the conference. She also ranks sixth in the Big 12 in saves per game with 5.70. Peese continues to add to her school record for career saves. She began the season tied with Stephanie Carter for first on the all-time list with 141 career saves, and now stands at 198.
The Red Raiders continue action this coming weekend with matches at Kansas on Friday and Missouri on Sunday. Tech returns home Sunday, October 15, at 1 p.m. to face the Baylor Bears.
