Texas Tech Soccer Team to Play Angelo State in Exhibition

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech womens soccer team plays its final exhibition game Friday with a home contest against Angelo State, beginning at 4 p.m. at the R.P. Fuller Stadium. Admission is free.
The Red Raiders won its first exhibition game with a 6-2 win over West Texas A&M Saturday in Canyon, Texas.
In his second season as head coach, Felix Oskam brings 15 returnees and nine newcomers onto the field, including eight starters. Last season, the young Red Raiders posted a 7-11 mark which included five overtime contests. Highlighting the Red Raider squad is junior forward Kristy Frantz, who scored a team-high 33 points (14 goals, five assists) in 1997. A native of Alexandria, Va., Frantz was selected to the NSCAA All-Central Region third team.
The Red Raider womens soccer team will participate in "Meet the Red Raiders" Day to be held Saturday, Aug. 29, beginning at 3 p.m. at Jones Stadium.
Tech opens the regular season with a home game against #20 SMU on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Game time is 4 p.m. at R.P. Fuller Stadium. Promotions for the first game include: first 100 fans will receive a free t-shirt; kids wearing a soccer uniform will be admitted free; rowdiest team will win Powerade squeeze bottles and a cooler. The Texas Tech mens club soccer team will be recognized at halftime for winning the national championship.
