LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head basketball coach James Dickey announced today that University of Houston transfer Moses Malone, Jr. has completed NCAA transfer requirements and is eligible to compete with the Red Raiders immediately.
?We?re pleased that Moses will be able to travel and compete as soon as his foot will allow,? Dickey said. ?He can shoot the ball and knows how to score, and will certainly add to our depth.
?Sitting out for year is always difficult and I know he is anxious to get started.?
Malone played in nine games at Houston last season, before transferring to Texas Tech at the semester break in January. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound guard/forward suffered a stress fracture in his left foot during preseason workouts and is listed as week-to-week.
Malone was a Fourth-Team All-America selection by Street & Smith?s following his senior season at Friendswood High School in Houston. He averaged 27.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists throughout his four-year career at FHS. He also was named one of the top 50 recruits in the nation, according to recruiting guru Bob Gibbons.
