LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech cross country coach David Smith today announced the signing of three more athletes to the women's team, making a total of five women signed in the early signing period.
The top athlete of the three is Jennifer Marble out of Canyon, Texas. She is considered to be one of the top cross country runners coming out of the state of Texas. She finished third in the 4A classification at this year's state meet. Megan Beaty, out of Idalou High School, was one of the top runners in the 2A classification during her career and has been among the top finishers at the state meet each year. The third recruit to sign is Bridget Tidwell out of Crawford, Texas. Tidwell is a five-time state champion in distance events in the 2A classification. She was the 1998 and 1999 state champion in cross cross country.
Marable, Beaty and Tidwell join Katie Lyman of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Kristen Adkins of Abilene as the first members of the women's cross country recruiting class.
"I'm pleased with what we've gotten in here so far," Smith said of the recruiting class. "We've gotten five girls in the early signing period who could make a pretty good class on their own."
