No stranger to head coach Trish Knight, Loran Richardson returns for her second season as an assistant coach on the Texas Tech bench.
Richardson, a former standout defensive specialist/libero for Knight at MSU-West Plains, was appointed to her new position on Aug. 1, 2009. While playing for Knight, MSU-West Plains advanced to the national title match during both the 2002 and 2003 seasons, finishing as the runner-up in both trips.
Born and raised in the other Houston (in Missouri), she finished her collegiate career at Central Methodist University and was twice named to the Academic All-American team.
Richardson spent the 2008 season as an assistant coach at Trevecca Nazarene University and helped guide the program to its 22-11 mark. Prior to that, she spent two seasons as the head volleyball coach at Clinton High School in Clinton, Mo.
She is married to Jeff Richardson, who is the volunteer assistant coach for the Lubbock Christian University baseball team.
