Started 40 games at catcher after returning from a shoulder injury that set her back the first three weeks of the season … finished third on the team with seven home runs and second on the team with eight doubles … tallied 117 at bats in 2017 … ended the season with a .470 slugging percentage and .308 on base percentage to go along with her .222 batting average … hit a home run in her first at bat of the season on March 3 against UTEP … connected on three home runs in her first weekend back from injury … recorded two three-hit performances in Big 12 play with one at Iowa State (Mar. 24) and against Kansas (Apr. 9) … posted a season-high four RBI on Mar. 24 at Iowa State … finished with seven multi-hit games in 2017 … fourth on the team with 122 put outs while posting a .973 fielding percentage from behind the plate … threw out 6 of 41 stolen base attempts.
JUNIOR SEASON (2016)
Moved to catcher and started 54 games for the Red Raiders … recorded the second most home runs for the team at 11 … tallied 121 at bats in 2016 … ended the season with a .579 slugging percentage and a .362 on base percentage … threw out 14 of 34 stolen base attempts … posted a .955 fielding percentage from behind the plate … closed the season strong at the plate with hits in three of the last four games … posted six multi-hit performances … notched a season-high four RBI at Iowa State (Apr. 24), including a three-run home run in the third inning that gave Tech the lead for good at 7-5.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2015)
Versatile athlete who played mostly in the outfield ... made 46 appearances for the Red Raiders including 43 starts ... accounted for 18 runs in 2015 ... tallied 113 plate appearances ... notched four multi-hit games including a season high three hits twice ... recorded 17 RBI including a season high five RBI against Tulsa on March 14 ... blasted four homers in 2015 ... showed patience at the plate in 2015 recording 15 walks ... Finished 2015 with a .416 slugging percentage and a .354 on base percentage.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2014)
Used in various roles during inaugural season as a Red Raider ... appeared in 33 games while making nine starts either in the outfield or behind the plate ... came off the bench in pinch hitting roles as well ... ended the year with a .161 batting average (5-for-31) ... patient hitter who drew five walks for a .278 on-base percentage ... recorded lone RBI on the season off a run-scoring double March 14 against Canisius ... was the only extra-base hit during the season ... first career hit came Feb. 8 against UMKC ... all five of her hits came prior to Big 12 play ... saw action in 12 conference games mainly as a defensive substitute in the outfield ... made lone start during league play on March 30 against Baylor ... ended year with five runs scored and three stolen bases ... was perfect 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts ... was 1-for-5 at a pinch hitter ... lone hit came in first opportunity Feb. 15 against Weber State ... made the move to catcher early in the season ... first start behind the plate came Feb. 28 against Rhode Island ... marked first time in her playing career to ever enter a game at catcher ... caught one runner attempting to steal in three opportunities ... provided the Red Raiders much-needed additional depth behind the plate as year moved on.
BIRDVILLE HIGH SCHOOL
One of the top players coming out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2013 ... was a do-it-all type player for Birdville High School ... one of the top pitching/hitting combinations in the state in 2012-13 ... led Birdville to the regional finals as a junior and then the regional semifinals her senior year ... an all-state selection by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) as both a junior and senior ... was a second team all-state pick by the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) her junior year ... named the Fort Worth Star Telegram's 2012 Super Team Player of the Year ... a two-time FWST first team selection (2012-13) ... named the district MVP her junior and senior years as well ... totaled a 1.37 earned-run average with 20 wins in the regular season as a junior ... also hit .437 that year for the Lady Hawks ... played for the Texas Glory Adkins Gold travel team in the summer ... was one of three players on the team who became Red Raiders.

Susan Elizabeth Welborn ... born to parents Sam and Mary Ann Welborn ... youngest of three sisters ... comes from a very athletic family ... mother is a member of the Synchronized Swimming Hall of Fame ... father was a first round selection in the 1975 Major League Baseball Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies ... father was also a top fastpitch player as well ... oldest sister, Katie, played softball at Tarleton State ... other sister, Emily, played basketball at Midwestern State ... sociology major with a minor in forensic science ... hopes to one day join the FBI.
