Shishir Bhakta begins his 21st year as the equipment manager for the Texas Tech baseball team and his 14th as a full-time employee in 2020. His responsibilities include equipment issue, maintenance, practice setup, inventories and various other gameday duties for the team.

Bhakta works closely with the student-athletes and coaches on and off the field and is key to helping the program function at its highest capacity. His work is certainly prevalent as the Red Raiders have blossomed into one of the premier programs in all of college baseball with four trips to the College World Series in the last six years and three Big 12 titles in the last four seasons.

Bhakta is a Lubbock native and graduated from Lubbock High School in 2000 where he served as equipment manager for the high school baseball team. He interned for the New York Jets of the National Football League in 2001-2005. Shishir graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Exercise & Sports Science and a minor in Mathematics.

Shishir and his wife, Purvi, married on August 2, 2011, and have two daughters, Sanaya and Amaya. He is the son of Ishwar and Kanchan Bhakta. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cooking, and doing fun activities with his two daughters.
