The 2026 Red Raiders will square off with a select group pro Red Raiders on Jan. 31
LUBBOCK, Texas – As part of the leadup to the 76th season of Texas Tech Baseball, head coach Tim Tadlock and Texas Tech Baseball have scheduled an alumni game for Saturday, January 31st.
Complete rosters, game length, streaming details and a first pitch time will be announced in the coming weeks.
"We're excited to bring Red Raider Nation a game between our active professional baseball alumni and our current 2026 roster on January 31st," Tadlock said. "It will be a great opportunity for Red Raiders to come together and see their favorite former players and our current 2026 team in action. This past season, we had multiple alumni debut and make an impact at various levels of the game. This game will be a great way to kick off the 2026 season and welcome back our many alums that are playing across professional baseball." Â
Looking to build off the momentum from a 2025 MLB season that saw eight different Red Raiders appear in an MLB game, Tech Baseball boasts a strong alumni base that includes 26 different active pro players including Rangers third baseman Josh Jung, rookie right-hander Hunter Dobbins and Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin.
One of the breakout stars for the Red Sox before suffering a torn ACL in July, Dobbins went 4-1 in 13 appearances (11 starts) for Boston. He whiffed 45 and pitched to a 4.15 ERA before suffering the season-ending injury. Dobbins, who debuted on ESPNs Sunday Night Baseball, threw at least five innings in eight of his 11 starts including a six-inning two-hit shutout performance against the Yankees on FOX.
A staple of the hot corner and a member of the 2023 World Series Championships team, Jung hit .251 with 14 home runs and 61 RBIs for the Rangers in 131 games. Jung also added 23 doubles.
Continuing his run of strong performance for the White Sox, Martin also threw well in 2025 as the righty tossed a career-best 142.2 innings striking out 104 batters. He held opposing hitters to a batting average against of just .251. Â
Tickets for the 2026 Alumni Game are on sale now and can be accessed by visiting the Texas Tech Ticket Office website or by clicking here. Tickets start at just $18.
The Red Raiders open the 2026 season on Feb. 13 at the Shriner's Children's College Showdown hosted by REV Entertainment and Globe Life Field. The weekend includes matchups against former Big 12 foe Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
