Tech Loses in First Round of Big 12 TourneyThe Red Raider soccer team had to wait an extra day and move to Missouri's home field before they could even play their first game in the Big 12 Soccer Championships. It all added up to a loss though, as Tech was defeated 2-3 by Missouri in the opening round of the Big 12 Soccer Championships. Tech, who was suppose to play Missouri on Thursday at the Anheuser-Busch Complex in St. Louis, Mo. saw their game postponed until Friday and moved to the Tigers home field. Missouri scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission. But Tech came on strong in the second half, as Senior midfielder Kristi Patterson scored in the 54th minute of play. Freshman forward Kristy Frantz scored in the 64th minute to tie the game at two. However, an on goal by Tech in the 80th minute provided Missouri with the game winning goal and a ticket to the second round of play. The loss brought the Red Raiders overall season record to 13-8. Nebraska went on to defeat Missouri before downing Texas A&M in overtime to take home the Big 12 Soccer Championship. Frantz Named to All-Big 12 Soccer TeamThe All-Big 12 Womens soccer team was named last week. Freshman forward Kristy Frantz was a second team pick in the forward position. She was the only Red Raider selected to the two teams. Texas A&M had the most selections with eight players making the two teams, including goalkeeper Melanie Wilson, who nabbed Rookie of the Year honors. Conference Champion Nebraska had seven players on the two teams. Husker coach John Walker was named the Coach of the Year and Kari Uppinghouse shared Player of the Year honors with Bryn Blalack of Texas A&M. First Team Name Pos. She is tied for second in season goals with 11. She is also tied for second in season points with 27. *Senior Midfielder Kristi Patterson leaves Texas Tech as a three year letterwinner. She has started in all 57 games that the Red Raider soccer program has played in its three year existence. Patterson holds the school record in career points with 78, career goals with 30, and career assists with 18. She is tied for second in single season points with 27, and single season goals with 11.
