No. 23 Tech welcomes Boise State for Sunday home opener
August 22, 2026 | Women's Soccer
The Red Raiders will look to extend a 15-match home non-conference winning streak
LUBBOCK, Texas – After a nearly 7000-mile journey to Hawaii and back, No. 23/NR Texas Tech Soccer returns home for a Sunday night matchup with defending Mountain West Regular Season Champions Boise State.
First touch for the home opener is set for 7 p.m.
Riding a 15-match non-conference home winning streak and unbeaten under Head Coach Tom Stone in home openers (18-0-1), the Red Raiders enter the weekend 1-0-1 after a win and a
draw on the Island of O'ahu.
Tech defeated the host Rainbow Wahine, 1-0 on Thursday afternoon, before playing the Redhawks of SeattleU to a scoreless draw. The matchup against SeattleU was played during adverse conditions after being moved up a day to avoid the impact of Tropical Storm turned Hurricane Lulu and featured driving sideways rain and sustained winds of 50 MPH.
Despite the tough conditions, Tech goalkeeper Addie Todd shined, recording a pair of clean sheets in two strong performances. After needing to make just two stops in the victory over UH, Todd made seven stops in the Saturday contest against SeattleU.
Boise State enters the Sunday contest with a record of 2-0-1 after Thursday's scoreless draw against SMU. In the stalemate, Boise extended its nation's-leading 17-match unbeaten streak.
The Broncos are also unbeaten in their last 11 road matches dating back to a 2024 Halloween night loss at No. 25 Utah State. The Broncos last outright loss came during the 2025 season when they fell at home to former Texas Tech assistant coach Gibbs Keeton and UTEP, 1-0.
Sunday's home opener against Boise State will feature a magnetic schedule card giveaway for the first 250 fans through the gates of the John Walker Soccer Complex.

LAST TIME OUT:
No. 23/19 Texas Tech playing through the elements created by Tropical Storm Lulu, battled SeattleU to a scoreless 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon at the Lower Campus Stadium.
In the draw, Texas Tech (1-0-1) goalkeeper Addie Todd made seven saves to earn her second-straight clean sheet.
Playing through driving rain at times and sustained 20-30 MPH winds, Tech nearly went up 1-0 in the 10th-minute when a rising Emma Torres shot destined for the upper corner of the net was saved by Seattle's (0-1-1) Kassidy Kirgan for a corner.
The chance by Torres was the best chance for the Red Raiders in the first half.
Just nine minutes later, it was the Red Raider goalkeeper turn to make a big save, as Todd made two strong saves on Redhawk striker Katie Pieburn in the 19th minute.
After halftime the Red Raiders nearly made it 1-0 in the 52nd minute when midfielder Sophia Neves was wide open at the end of the Redhawks six-yard box. Neves crossed a ball that found

QUICK KICKS:
• Back in Sunny and dry West Texas, NR/No. 23 Texas Tech Soccer will look to rebound from a disappointing scoreless draw against WCC foe SeattleU last Saturday afternoon during Hurricane Lala in Hawaii. After a 1-0 win over the host Rainbow Wahine of Hawaii, Tech and Seattle U battle driving rain and sustained winds of over 40 MPH to play to Tech's first scoreless draw in non-conference play since 2022
• In the stalemate, GK Addie Todd made seven saves to earn her second-straight clean sheet to open the 2026 season. Todd who made two saves to earn her first career win as a Red Raider, has played every minute of the Red Raiders first two games and the exhibition contest against UNM.
• In the week long stay on O'ahu, Tech's normally potent offense was held to just one goal and 19 total shots. Of the 19 total shots, 11 came on-goal. The Red Raiders lone goal, a 43rd minute strike from Storie Sexton came unassisted, meaning through the Red Raiders first two matches they have failed to record an assist. Tech had 52 helpers on 39 goals in 2025 and 50 helpers on 45 strikes in 2024. In 2023, the Red Raiders had 61 assists on 45 goals.
• Entering his 20th season at the helm of the Red Raiders coach Tom Stone enters the weekend and this years home opener a perfect 18-0-0 in non-conference home openers (excluding the 2020-21 season where Tech played only Big 12 foes). If you count the abridged COVID-19 impacted season, Stone's record in his previous 19 home openers stands at 18-0-1.
• Know for a bounce back ability, the Red Raiders enter Sunday's home opener riding an impressive streak of finding a way to win their next match following a setback or draw as Tech has won 11-straight matches following either a draw or setback dating back to 2023 when Tech drew Princeton (advanced on PKs) before losing 1-0 in the Round of 16.
• The Red Raiders went a perfect 6-0-0 a season ago when following a loss or draw, and 5-0-0 in 2024. The Red Raiders are 16-1-0 since the start of the 2023 season after a loss or draw.
• Again one of the nation's best teams in bouncing back, Tech will look to return to form after the two matches in Honolulu that saw the squad only score once. Dating back to 2023, the Red Raiders have been shutout just 11 times. In the nine matches (non-season ending losses) where Tech played again in that season, the Red Raiders have rebounded to score in eight of those nine chances.
• Depth already looks to be a strength of the 2026 Red Raider squad as through the first two regular season matches in Hawaii, the Red Raiders have seen 24 of the 28 players on the roster already see game action through the first two contests of 2026. In fact, just two Red Raiders (GK Addie Todd and CB Emilie McCartney) have played 180 minutes on the season. Of the Red Raiders 24 players that have seen action, just eight have played at least 100 minutes, and just two (Todd and McCartney) have played in 150 minutes or more.
