No. 6 Texas Tech third after opening day at Big 12 Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — No. 6 Texas Tech opened the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship on Monday at Prairie Dunes Country Club and sits in third place after 36 holes of the 72-hole event.
The Red Raiders were one of three teams to finish under par through the opening day, posting rounds of 2-over 282 and 3-under 277 to sit at 1-under 559. Texas Tech trails No. 5 Oklahoma State (-14) and No. 20 Arizona (-7) heading into Tuesday's third round.
After opening the day in sixth place following the first round, the Red Raiders responded with a strong second round to move into the top three.
A trio of Red Raiders sit inside the top 20 individually, led by Tim Wiedemeyer, who is tied for third at 4-under 136. The junior paced Texas Tech in the second round with a 4-under 66, highlighted by a bogey-free back nine that included two birdies and an eagle on the 531-yard par-5 17th hole.
Ben Gregg is tied for 13th at 1-under 139 after rounds of 69 and 70, while Adam Bresnu is tied for 17th at even-par 140. Bresnu rebounded from an opening-round 73 with a 3-under 67 in the second round.
Connor Graham is tied for 38th at 4-over 144, while Brady McHenry is tied for 72nd at 13-over 153.
The championship continues with 18-hole rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday. Play begins at 10 a.m. CDT Tuesday, with the final round scheduled for 8 a.m. CDT on Wednesday. The final round will be streamed on ESPN+.
