Zaretsky leads Tech after opening day in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Lauren Zaretsky paced Texas Tech on the opening day of the Lady Luck Invitational, finishing Monday tied for seventh place after 36 holes at Las Vegas Country Club.
Zaretsky carded rounds of 72-74 to sit at 2-over 146 heading into Tuesday's final round, positioning herself inside the top 10 of the 54-hole event. She is six shots back from the 36-hole leader, Foong Zi Yu (UNLV), at 4-under.
As a team, the Red Raiders are tied for 13th at 45-over 621 (310-311) following the first two rounds.
Klara Hurtova sits tied for 44th at 12-over 156 (79-77), while Maja Ambroziak is tied for 56th at 15-over 159 (79-80). Danique Stokmans carded back-to-back rounds of 80 and is tied for 60th at 16-over 160, and Amy Squires rounds out the lineup tied for 66th at 18-over 162 (81-81).
Meanwhile, back in the Lone Star State, Cameron Freund, Denisa Vodickova, and Emily Lee are participating in the West Texas Classic as individuals, hosted by ACU. Freund is tied for fourth (+1), Vodickova is tied for 16th (+4), and Lee is tied for 80th (+25) among the 88 individuals in the field.
The Red Raiders will conclude both tournaments on Tuesday.
