Red Raiders set pace through two rounds at Red Raider Invitational
September 23, 2025 | Women's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech women's golf leads the Red Raider Invitational at 5-over-par through 36 holes, a two-shot margin over Houston Christian. Seniors Danique Stokmans and Lauren Zaretsky sit in the top 10, just four shots off the lead.
After a 3-over-par opening round, Stokmans bounced back in the second round, carding three birdies to only one bogey en route to a 2-under-par round of 70. In a tie-for-seventh, she is poised for her best career finish as a Red Raider, with her current best a tie-for-11th at the Veritex Bank Collegiate last April.
Zaretsky joined Stokmans at 1-over-par for the tournament, who similarly rebounded from an over-par first round. The Canadian started 1-over-par through her first four holes, but played her final 14 holes with a clean card and picked up two birdies to turn in a 1-under-par round of 71.
Freshman Amy Squires continues to show her solid form early in her collegiate career. Just over two weeks from earning a top-20 in her collegiate debut, Squires is in a tie for 11th at 2-over-par. Her opening 1-under-par round of 71 included four birdies. Squires doubled the 14th hole during her second round, but stayed composed and played her final six holes in 1-under-par.
The fourth Red Raider in the top-15 is Maja Ambroziak, who holed four birdies in her opening round. A 3-over-par second round still keeps her in the hunt going into the final round.
The Red Raiders will have to chase down New Mexico's Ava Cepeda and UTSA's Lauren Rios, who share the 36-hole lead at 3-under-par.
