September 20, 2025 | Men's Golf
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. — Aided by under-par rounds from junior Tim Wiedemeyer and sophomore Connor Graham, the Texas Tech men's golf team shot 3-under-par (277) during Saturday's second round of the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club. The Red Raiders are in second place at 4-under-par after 36 holes, seven shots off the University of Florida's pace at 11-under-par.
Â
Graham, who owned the Red Raiders' low round on Saturday of 3-under-par 67, birdied his opening hole before he carded three in a row across holes No. 13 and No. 15 on his way to moving into a tie for third place individually. He is tied with Illinois' Max Herendeen at 4-under-par (136) for the tournament, just one shot off Oklahoma State's Gaven Lane and Florida's Matthew Kress, who have the lead at 5-under-par (135).
Graham is in a position to capture his first career collegiate victory with just one round to play. His career-best finish is a tie for seventh, posted twice during his freshman season.
Â
Joining Graham in the top five, Widemeyer played his first 12 holes at level par before holing two birdies to stay in the hunt at 3-under-par (137). He finished the second round with a 2-under-par 68.
Â
First-round leader junior Adam Bresnu is only three shots off the lead. He responded from a 2-over-par front nine with a clean card and a birdie on the par three 13th hole to shoot a 71 (+1).Â
Texas Tech heads into the final round with three in the individual Top 10 between the trio of Graham (T-3rd), Wiedemeyer (T-5th), and Bresnu (T-8th). As a team, Tech trails Florida by seven strokes, a Gator team that shot a blistering 13-under-par 267 on Saturday.
