Sierra Grizzle earns Big 12 Weekly Award in opening weekend
ATHENS, Georgia – Junior Sierra Grizzle earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for her performance on the court this past week. Grizzle – in her first weekend in the Big 12 – becomes the first Red Raider since 2022 to win a weekly award, snapping a two-year drought.
Grizzle, a Wyoming transfer, was the Red Raider's libero all three matches and led the team in digs each match. She finished the weekend with 66 digs (5.50 digs per set) – with two 20+ dig performances – while also having an impressive having a perfect serve-receive record going 51-for-51.
The first touch has been a large point of emphasis for Tech this season and Grizzle is already helping alleviate that issue.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will spend the next few days in Athens as they play Duke, Georgia and Alabama State.
