The outfielder hit .327 with a Big 12-best 19 home runs
LUBBOCK, Texas – Fresh off a breakout sophomore season that saw him hit .327 with a Big 12 leading 19 home runs, junior Logan Hughes checked in at No. 20 on the MLB.com top-20 college prospects list, the publication announced Tuesday.Â
A native of Deland, Hughes shined in the biggest moments for the Red Raiders in 2025, hitting .376 with 11 long balls and 30 RBIs during Big 12 play. In total, 58 percent of his home runs and 52 percent of his RBIs came during league play.
After the successful sophomore campaign, Hughes took his talents to the prestigious Cape Cod League where he appeared in 24 games and hit .265 with a .386 on-bast percentage. Hughes also hit a pair of
homers and drove in nine and walked twice more (16) than he struck out (14).
In the article MLB-dot-com writer Jim Callis said: "After batting .327/.411/.697 with nearly as many homers (19) as strikeouts (24) during the spring, Hughes earned Cape Cod League All-Star honors and won a championship on the wood-bat circuit this summer. He makes repeated hard contact with power to all fields and profiles best as a left fielder with fringy speed and arm strength."
Hughes and the Red Raiders begin the 2025-26 season on Saturday afternoon with a fall exhibition contest against Texas. First pitch from Dell Diamond in Round Rock is set for 1 p.m.
