Pollock recognized as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

Texas Tech earned its second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honor in as many weeks Monday
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech junior cornerback Brice Pollock was recognized Monday as a Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after picking off a pair of passes last weekend in the Red Raiders' victory over Oregon State.
Pollock is the second Red Raider in as many weeks to be honored with one of the conference's two defensive awards as Skyler Gill-Howard was previously recognized following his pick-six performance versus Kent State. It is the first career weekly award for Pollock, who arrived at Texas Tech this past offseason following two years at Mississippi State.
Pollock became the first Red Raider since Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in 2023 to intercept two passes in the same game as he picked off a pair of passes in Texas Tech's 45-14 rout of the Beavers. Pollock, who added six tackles in the win, is one of 12 players in the FBS and the only Big 12 player to record at least two interceptions in the same game this season.
Oregon State struggled offensively against Pollock and a stout Red Raider defense, racking up only 289 yards of total offense for Texas Tech's third-consecutive victory to start the season. As a defense, Texas Tech currently ranks 15th in the FBS for total defense at 229.0 yards per game and 22nd in scoring after allowing only 11.7 points a contest.
The Red Raiders have the largest point differential (139) in the country through the first three weeks of the season, topping both Indiana (133) and Oregon (132). Texas Tech's 35 points allowed has all come late in the three victories as the Red Raiders have outscored their opponents by a combined 123-0 in the first half and then 154-0 over the first three quarters.
In addition to Pollock, the Big 12 also recognized Arizona State linebacker Jordan Crook with its other defensive honor. A full list of Big 12 weekly award winners can be found here.
Pollock and the Red Raiders open Big 12 play this Saturday at Utah. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. CT as part of FOX's Big Noon Kickoff.
