
Bresnu sits in Top 5 with second-round 67

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Texas Tech men's golf junior Adam Bresnu fired a 5-under-par round of 67 to vault his way into fifth place during Saturday's second round of the Carmel Cup at Spyglass Hill Golf Club. First-round leader Connor Graham still sits in the top 10 while the team is in seventh place.

Trading a birdie and a bogey through his first four holes, Bresnu played his final 14 flawlessly, carding five birdies to no dropped shots. The run included a stretch of three consecutive birdies across holes No. 12 and No. 14. His round moved him to 6-under-par, just three shots outside the lead.

After taking the first round lead, sophomore Connor Graham was 2-under-par on his round through 15 holes before dropping five shots over his last three holes. The 3-over-par round of 75 dropped him into a tie for ninth after 36 holes to 2-under-par overall.Â

Junior Ben Gregg jumped up eight spots with his 1-under-par round of 71. The Dallas native holed four birdies and then an eagle on the 17th hole. Gregg sits in a tie for 32nd going into Sunday's final round.

Vanderbilt expanded on its lead, posting a team total of 14-under-par 346 to move to 22-under-par through 36 holes.Â
