November 12, 2025 | Men's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech men's golf head coach Greg Sands announced the addition of Samuel Gonzalez to his roster as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday. Gonzalez, who hails from Colombia, will join the Red Raiders roster to begin the 2026-27 season.
"We are thrilled to welcome Samuel González Rivera to the Texas Tech Men's Golf family," said Sands. "Sam is one of the top players in South America and represents the next generation of elite Colombian golfers. His talent, drive, and character align perfectly with our program's values, and we're excited for him to continue the proud tradition of successful Colombian players here at Texas Tech. We can't wait to see what he'll accomplish as a Red Raider."
Gonzalez was born and raised in Manizales, Colombia, to parents Santiago Gonzalez and Aura Patricia Rivera. The class of 2026 signee will join a string of former Red Raiders with Colombian roots, including Esteban Restrepo, Ivan Ramirez, and Santiago Rivas.
Gonzalez was a member of the 2024 International Junior Presidents Cup Team, coming off winning the South American Junior Championship in Uruguay, and represented Colombia in the Toyota Junior World Cup in Japan. He's now a member of the 2026 Colombia National Junior Team. Recent successes in 2025 include a first-place finish at the Copa Eduardo Herrera, third place at the AJGA Panama, and ninth place at the Junior Orange Bowl International.
