Graham takes solo lead after round one at Carmel Cup
August 29, 2025 | Men's Golf
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Texas Tech men's golf sophomore Connor Graham took the solo lead at the Carmel Cup after an opening round 5-under-par 67 during Friday's first round at Spyglass Hill Golf Club. The team sits in seventh place at 5-over-par.
Â
Graham posted a flawless front nine, carding five birdies, including three in a row across holes five through seven. The Blairgowrie, Scotland, native traded a birdie and a bogey on the back nine to close out an even par back side. The score was good enough to create a two-shot cushion over six other golfers.
Â
Joining Graham in the top 20 were junior transfer from Odessa College, Adam Bresnu, and junior Tim Wiedemeyer. Bresnu holed birdies on the first and ninth holes while picking up his third of the afternoon on the 12th hole. The effort was enough to card a 1-under-par round of 71 in his Red Raider debut.
Â
Wiedemeyer strung together three consecutive birdies across holes six through eight en route to an opening round of 72 (E).
Â
Vanderbilt claimed the first-round lead, posting 8-under-par with four countable scores under par.
Â
Round two tee times will begin at 9:40 a.m. through 11:50 a.m. PDT Saturday.
