DeLong, Scott join PGA TOUR Americas
June 10, 2025 | Men's Golf
LUBBOCK, Texas —  It did not take long for seniors Charlie DeLong and Calum Scott to find work at the conclusion of the 2024-25 Texas Tech men's golf season. Both will be joining PGA TOUR Americas.
Scott knew his spot with PGA TOUR Americas was secured on the Red Raiders' final day of stroke play competition at the NCAA Championships on May 26, thanks to PGA TOUR University.
PGA TOUR University, established prior to the 2022-23 season, bridges the gap between college golf and professional golf, as it is designed for college golf's top players to earn professional memberships and secure guaranteed places to play immediately after their respective college careers are completed. The PGA Tour University Ranking is the mechanism to determine which graduating seniors earn automatic access to PGA TOUR-sanctioned circuits. Ludvig Aberg was Texas Tech's first beneficiary of the program, as he was the inaugural PGA TOUR University No. 1 player following the 2022-23 season, which was designed to grant the No. 1-ranked player a PGA TOUR card.
Scott finished 17th in the 2025 PGA TOUR University rankings, which earned all players ranked 11th to 25th a membership to PGA TOUR Americas for the remainder of the 2025 season. It also automatically qualified Scott for the second stage of 2025 Q-School.
Meanwhile, DeLong, who finished No. 38 in the 2025 PGA Tour University rankings, needed to earn his way into the professional ranks a different way and did just that.
DeLong gained full status for the second half of the 2025 tour, qualifying through PGA TOUR Americas Q-School - Midwest. In a field consisting of 140 competitors, June 3-6, at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville, Ind., DeLong finished tied for fourth by carding a 21-under-par (67-71-65-64=267) in the 72-hole event to earn one of 11 exemptions for the North America swing of the 2025 PGA TOUR Americas season.
The 2025 PGA TOUR Americas North America swing kicks off, July 3-6, at the Explore NB Open at Mactaquac Golf Course in Mactaquac, New Brunswick, Canada.
