
Tech signs Sidney Love

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's basketball head coach Krista Gerlich has announced the signing of Sidney Love to the 2025-26 roster.
"Our staff has known Sidney Love for a long time! We are incredibly proud of her accomplishments during her time at UTSA," Gerlich said. "As a three-year starter, she concluded her last season with an AAC Regular-Season Championship. In our search for an impact player at the guard position, Sidney is the perfect fit. She will provide an immediate boost of athleticism to our backcourt and provides us with an additional ball-handler. We are excited to welcome Sidney to our Lady Raider family!"
Love is coming to Texas Tech after playing three seasons for the UTSA Roadrunners. As a junior in 2024-25, Love helped the Roadrunners to a 26-5 overall record and a 17-1 record in the AAC to win the regular season title. In addition to going undefeated at home with a 13-0 record, Love also aided UTSA to a WBIT nod where they faced Gonzaga in the first round of the tournament.
In her junior season this past year, Love started in 30 games, averaging 31 minutes per game. Love was second on the team with 10.3 points per game and with 308 points. She went 114-for-304 from the field (.378) and added 24 triples on the year. Shooting 77.1 percent from the free throw line (54-for-70), Love also added 108 rebounds, 107 assists and 39 steals for the Roadrunners.
In 2024-25, she totaled 14 double-digit scoring games with a season high of 21 points twice. She had eight games with five or more rebounds and posted a career-best of eight boards against Tulsa. Love added nine games with 5+ assists, while boasting a career-high of 11 assists for a doubles-double against UTRGV.
Love averaged 9.6 points per game as a sophomore, shooting 36.1 percent from the field (114-for-316) and going 69-for-84 at the free throw line (.821). She posted a season-best of 122 rebounds and added 106 assists and 43 steals. Love tallied 17 double-figure games and a career-high of 26 versus UT Arlington. Love helped the Roadrunners to 18 wins in the season, a fourth-place finish in the AAC regular season, an AAC Tournament semifinals appearance and a second-round WNIT berth.
In 2022-23, Love recorded 15 double-figure scoring games, three 20+ point games, one double-double and five games with 5+ assists. She posted a season-high in points with 23 versus UAB on 9-for-16 shooting (.563). She also had a career-high in rebounds with 10 and a season-best in assists with seven, earning Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors in the process. The Roadrunners would also make it to the Conference USA Tournament semifinals.
Love will be a senior with the Lady Raiders next season.
