No. 12 Jayhawks down Red Raiders

LAWRENCE, Kansas – Texas Tech (8-9, 0-5) fell to No. 15 Kansas (12-7, 3-2) 3-0 on Wednesday in the Horejsi Arena.
The Jayhawks used 12 aces and two 12-kill performances from Grace Nelson and Jovana Zelenovic to power past Tech on their home floor. Zelenovic also added seven aces and hit .409 to round out her performance.
Kalli Jioshvili Ravva led the Red Raiders with seven kills and 11 digs. Katelyn Cochran led the team with 11 assists and Sierra Grizzle had another double-digit dig match with 10. Addie Kanouff, Jasmine Martin and Reagan Engler all added three kills for Tech.
How it Happened:
The Jayhawks were fueled by 7-0 and 6-0 runs in the first set as Nelson and Zelenovic both had four kills as Kansas took the set 25-12.
Kansas kept the pressure on, jumping out to a 10-2 lead and built that into a 20-9 lead thanks to a nice serving run from Zelenovic. The Jayhawks took the second set 25-16.
The Jayhawks to another early set lead, but the Red Raiders were able to comeback and make it a one-point set at 16-15 before a quick 5-0 run by Kansas took back the momentum as they completed the sweep over the Red Raiders.
UP NEXT: The Red Raiders will face Kansas State at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Manhattan.
