October 17, 2025 | Women's Volleyball
Volleyball will host the Cougars on Saturday afternoon
LUBBOCK, Texas – After an off week from Big 12 play, the Red Raiders (8-10, 0-6) are back in action as they host No. 19 BYU (15-3, 3-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. Tech will be wearing its pink jerseys for its annual 'Dig Pink' match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
This will be the Cougars first time in Lubbock as the previous seven meetings have all been in Provo. BYU is 5-2 all-time against the Red Raiders including a 3-0 win over Tech last season.
The Red Raiders will be looking for their first conference win of the season as the Cougars have wins over Iowa State, Cincinnati and Houston. BYU faced No. 7 Arizona State on Thursday night, losing in five sets and will look to get back in the win column.
Quick Recap:
Tech dropped both its matches against Kansas and Kansas State last week by a score of 3-0. The Jayhawks and Wildcats both hit well and held the Red Raiders to a hitting percentage below .100 as Tech struggled to get any offensive rhythm going. Freshmen Shelby Ignash and Kenna McKenzie were bright spots in the team's match against Kansas State as they combined for nine kills. Ignash had four of those kills all coming in the third set, the lone set she played in.
Quick Hits:
Freshman outside hitter Kalli Jioshvili Ravva was incredible in her first weekend in Lubbock, Texas. She recorded back-to-back double doubles against Ole Miss and Incarnate Word. The French native tallied 54 kills in the Red Raider Classic including 22 against Ole Miss, which made her the first Red Raider this season to eclipse the 20-kill mark. She got it done on defense as well, recording a career-high 21 digs against Incarnate Word to help her finish the weekend with 40 digs.
For most players, a "sophomore slump" is a common occurrence. For Addie Kanouff, her sophomore year has been a welcomed sight for the Red Raiders. After appearing in just four matches last season, the 6'5 rightside has taken on a much bigger role this year and she has performed brilliantly. Kanouff is currently first on the team in kills (139), points (157.0) and second on the team in hitting percentage (.257), attacks (354) and blocks (32.0). She recorded a career-high 16 kills in Tech's win over UAlbany and has recorded three matches where she has hit over .350 with 10+ kills.
Reagan Engler is a star. The junior has moved to outside hitter this offseason in an effort to convert her to a six-rotation player, something she's never done in her career. In her first match in this new role she recorded her first career double-double and notched career highs in kills (16) and digs (10). Engler was named the MVP of the FAU Tournament after totaling 42 kills, 24 digs and 5.0 blocks. Her impact was felt both in her play and leadership as she was vocal in correcting her teammates when needed and also praising them when they made the adjustments.
