
Frank moves to No. 2 in the NCAA weight throw

She now owns the 1-4 marks in Tech history
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech track and field team wrapped up the second day of the Stan Scott Invite and Multis Friday night at the Sports Performance Center.
Shelby Frank won the weight throw competition by nine feet with a mark of 22.91m (75-2), the No. 2 mark in the NCAA. She now owns the No. 1 through No. 4 marks in the Tech record book. In the process, the mark also went down as a new facility record taking down Auburn's Madi Malone's 2023 mark of 22.69m (74-5 ½).
Zaid Latif opened his 2025 season winning the men's long jump with a leap of 7.71m (25-3 ½). Three of his six series went at least 25 feet and two inches. Entering tonight, the mark puts him tied for 12th in the country.
All-American Alyssa Colbert made her 2025 debut finishing third in the 60m final which came down to the thousandths of a second at 7.26 (.260). First place was 7.26 (.251), while second got 7.26 (.255).

·     Konner Wood secured a new PB in the weight throw going 21.81m (71-6 ¾)
·     Men's and women's teams took home DMR wins. The men clocked in at 9:51.13, while the women crossed the line at 11:37.78
·     Destiny Smith finished 3rd in the 60m hurdles final (8.17)
·     Samuel Bennett finished 3rd in the 60m hurdles final (7.87)
