Fridays' meet marks only the second one of the year for Tech. The Red Raiders kicked off the 2024 season two weeks ago in Las Cruces, N.M., running in the Lori Fitzgerald Memorial. In that meet, Tech produced the overall individual winner from the men's and women's side. Juliet Cherubet paced the way for the ladies with a time of 17:06 as freshman Solomon Kipchoge led the way for the men crossing the end line at 14:03.Â
Overall, the women's team placed five runners in the top-10 (1, 3, 4, 6, 8) as the men's team put six runners in the top-15 (1, 2, 7, 12, 13, 14). Ernest Cheruiyot - Big 12 3k indoor champion and fourth at the NCAA outdoor meet in the 10k - finished right behind Kipchoge with a time of 14:06.
In the preseason USTFCCCA Coaches poll two weeks ago, the men's team were receiving votes. The week one poll is set to come out Monday afternoon.
