
No. 31 Red Raiders Defeat No. 26 Oklahoma to Extend Win Streak to Six

DALLAS – The No. 31 Texas Tech men's tennis extended their winning streak to six matches by defeating No. 26 Oklahoma on Sunday 4-1.
The Red Raiders aggressive play proved to be the edge as they earned a doubles point early on. The duo of Dimitrios Azoidis and Ilgiz Valiev clinched a crucial doubles point for the Red Raiders by defeating the Sooner tandem of Jake Van Emburgh and Matt Rodriguez with a score of 7-6.
Singles play saw more of the same dominance from the Red Raiders. Franco Ribero made his presence felt early by taking down Oklahoma's Mark Mandlik 6-3, 6-4. Issac Arevalo served as the Red Raiders' closer for the second match in a row by defeating Welsh Hotard in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to earn the Red Raiders their sixth straight victory.
"Great team win, everybody contributed in some way." Coach Whitehead said. "We came out aggressive and played big tennis in the moments that we needed to. We will see them again soon at their place and we will look forward to that battle."
Up next: The Red Raiders travel to Houston to face Rice University on March 19.
