
Four Men's Tennis Players Notch ITA Preseason Rankings

Jolan Cailleau and Alex Sendegeya are ranked among the ITA’s preseason singles rankings for the second consecutive season.
LUBBOCK, Texas – A quartet of Texas Tech men's tennis players in Ronit Bisht, Jolan Cailleau, Alex Sendegeya and Bjorn Thomson picked up Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis preseason rankings announced Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
In doubles, Sendegeya and Thomson hold down the No. 29 position. The pair posted 16 dual match victories highlighted by a pair of ranked victories and moved up to play the No. 1 doubles line during Texas Tech's final nine matches last season.
Sendegeya checks in at No. 83 followed by Cailleau at No. 95 to represent the Red Raiders in singles. It marked the second straight season that the 2016 All-Big 12 Second-Team performers held an ITA preseason singles ranking. Texas Tech is one of 33 programs nationally and one of five Big 12 teams to have multiple singles players ranked.
Bisht is rated second among the ITA's National Newcomer/Freshman rankings. The sophomore transfer from India has held a career-high ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) ranking of 658 and Universal Tennis Ranking of 14.13 as recent as April 2016.
The Red Raiders will have five players compete at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships hosted by the University of Tulsa. Thomson will be joined by Connor Curry in prequalifying singles which begin on Oct. 1. Bisht, Cailleau and Sendegeya take the court for qualifying singles on Oct. 4. Sendegeya and Thomson also have secured a spot in the qualifying doubles draw.
Texas Tech begins its fall season with the first of seven fall events at the Midland Invitational located in Midland, Texas this weekend. The three-day tournament starts Friday and runs through Sunday.
