Clement Sordet becomes the first Red Raider since 2011 to pick up All-America honors.
June 26, 2015
LUBBOCK, Texas - Clement Sordet closed out his career with his first All-American honor as he was named to the PING All-America Second-Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
This honor is the third accolade this season for Sordet as he was named to the All-Big 12 Championship team for the third time in his career as well as to the All-Big 12 team.
"It was my individual goal of the year," Sordet said. "As a team, our goal was to make it back to match play at the NCAA Championships but for me, personally, there was nothing I wanted more than to be named an All-American. It means a lot to me."
Throughout his career as a Red Raider, he has helped Texas Tech to extend its postseason streak to 14 consecutive NCAA appearances, the longest active streak on campus. The Red Raiders have advanced to the NCAA Championships twice in the last three years and have finished runner-up at the Big 12 Championships in 2014 and 2015 under his leadership.
The four-year letterwinner tallied a 70.9 stroke average over the course of 13 tournaments while notching nine Top 10 finishes, including individual titles at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate and the NCAA Regional.
This marks the first time a Texas Tech player has earned All-America honors since 2011 when Nils Floren picked up second team accolades. Under head coach Greg Sands, the Red Raiders now have five All-American selections: Andrew Dresser (2006), Nils Floren (2010, 2011), Oscar Floren (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007), Sordet (2015) and Christopher Ward (2010).
