LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech men's golf coach Greg Sands announced on Thursday the signing of three high school seniors, who are set to join the Red Raider golf team for the 2016-17 campaign."I'm really excited about the potential of this class," Sands said. "It could be one of the best classes we've ever signed. The neat thing about it is, in addition to being talented golfers, all three kids are good students and great people. Robert Rickard is a great student-athlete, Kyle Hogan will be a presidential scholar, and Sandy Scott was the head of his class in Scotland. These three possess the qualities we look for when we recruit. We are ecstatic about bringing this class to Lubbock."
Two of Sands' signees tout top-100 rankings--Kyle Hogan is No. 76 in the 2016 class according to Golfweek, and Sandy Scott is currently No. 62 in the European Golf rankings, even though he is an amateur.
This class will add talented depth to the already youthful and talented roster currently playing for Sands. The Red Raiders went toe-to-toe with some of the nation's best programs this fall, and will look to continue to do so this spring.
