Red Raiders Place Nine on Academic All-Big 12 Team

Tech's nine selections are the most among any Big 12 team on this year's squad.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Nine members of the Texas Tech volleyball team have been named to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, the conference office announced today.
The Red Raiders led all teams with the most honorees in this year's class. It marks back-to-back seasons Texas Tech has had nine student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team.
Junior Marguerite Grubb headlined the first team selections with a 4.00 grade point average, one of three Big 12 student-athletes to do so. Seniors Jenna Allen and Brianna Grant and sophomore Ashley Morgan rounded out the first team members for the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech had five garner second team accolades: Senior Carlie Foust, junior Lauren Douglass and sophomores Audrey Fragniere, Victoria Hinneburg and Alyssa Ybanez.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
The Red Raiders head to Fort Worth to battle TCU on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
