LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech senior libero Carlie Foust earned her third Big 12 Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week accolade this season, the conference office announced today.
With the award, she becomes the first Red Raider to claim the honor three times in a single season.
"Having Carlie recognized by the conference continues to show that hard work pays off and that working to get better every day is a valuable trait," head coach Don Flora said. "She continues to have a fantastic season."
Foust, a native of Amarillo, continued to climb the Texas Tech record books after her performance against West Virginia on Friday, Nov. 13. She racked up 28 digs, one shy of a career-high, to move into sixth-place in the single-season digs records with 444. Her marks were the most in a match by a Big 12 student-athlete during competition last week.
She ranks second in the Big 12 this season in total digs (444) and digs per set (5.05) and 27th in the NCAA. By reaching the Texas Tech records, she became the fifth Red Raider in as many years to crack the program's top 10 in the category.
Foust and the Red Raiders head to Fort Worth to take on TCU on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
