The match was the first between the two programs. It marked the first time Tech faced an opponent from the Big East since falling to Syracuse, 3-1, on Sept. 8, 2007 in Syracuse, N.Y.
Tech's .412 hitting percentage in the first set was its average in the opening frame since hitting .417 against No. 2 Texas on Nov. 11, 2009.
Dating back to 1998, no Tech freshman had recorded double-digit kills in back-to-back matches to start a career until Breeann David, who had 11 kills last night against TCU and 14 against UConn.
David's .500 hitting percentage was also the highest for a Red Raider with at least 10 kills since Barbara Conceicao posted a .526 average Sept. 11, 2009 against Gonzaga.
Amanda Dowdy's 36 attempts were her fewest in a match since also recording 36 last season at Texas on Oct. 16.
Dowdy enters this afternoon's match with Grambling State five kills shy of tying Brande Brown (1994-97) on the school's career chart. After recording 18 kills against the Huskies, Dowdy now has 1,078 over her career.
Dowdy also moved up the career attacks chart midway through the match as she passed Sabrina Zenon (1999-02) for fourth overall. Dowdy now has 2,990 attempts in her career. Christine Martin is currently third on the chart with 3,181 career attempts.
Miara Cave's .472 hitting percentage marked a new career high, surpassing her previous high of .462 set on Nov. 7, 2009 against Colorado.
Tory Vaughan matched her career high of 13 digs for the second-straight match as the junior libero led the squad in the category.
