THE SERIES Texas Tech will have a stiff challenge on Saturday as the Red Raiders head to Stillwater in search of their first win there since the 2001 season. In fact, that win in 2001 was the last for the Red Raiders in the entire state of Oklahoma as Tech has also dropped its last four games on the road at OU. The Red Raiders will be facing a ranked Oklahoma State team for the second-straight season as Tech dropped then No. 8 OSU last year in Lubbock by a final score of 56-20. - Texas Tech leads the all-time series 21-12-3 but the Cowboys own a 9-8-1 advantage in games played in Stillwater.
- Texas Tech is 9-4 against the Cowboys since the start of Big 12 play in 1996.
- Since the inception of the Big 12 Conference, Texas Tech has reeled off two separate three-game win streaks over the Cowboys (1996-1999 and 2000-2002). Oklahoma State has never won back-to-back games against Tech in the Big 12 era.
- The last 13 meetings between the two teams (all in the Big 12 era) have resulted in a combined 784 points. Of those 784 points scored, 406 have been scored in games played in Stillwater.
- The only time a shutout has been thrown in the series was by Texas Tech in 2000 when the Red Raiders won 58-0.
- The game is being broadcast in primetime on ABC for the second year in a row.

THIRD WINNINGEST PROGRAM OF THE DECADE With 45 league wins since 2000, Texas Tech is the third winningest program in the Big 12 Conference this decade. The Red Raiders trail Oklahoma and Texas who share the lead with 65 conference wins. LEACH TIES DYKES Mike Leach tied Spike Dykes as the school's all-time winningest head coach with a 42-21 win over Kansas on Oct. 31. A win over Oklahoma State would make Leach Texas Tech's winningest coach with 82 career victories. Dykes led the Red Raiders to a school record 82 wins between 1986-99 before Leach took over the program. In just 10 years, Leach has compiled 82 wins with 45 of those coming in the Big 12 Conference. CAPTAINS SELECTED FOR OKLAHOMA STATE Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has adopted a new policy of electing game captains each week with an emphasis being placed on performance. Serving as game captains this week will be Baron Batch (RB) and Alex Torres (WR) from the offense and Jamar Wall (CB) and Bront Bird (LB) from the defense. Gerardo Acevedo will represent the special teams unit. BIG 12 NORTH SWEEP Texas Tech's 42-21 win over Kansas gave the Red Raiders a clean sweep of the Big 12 North Division for the second straight year. Tech has now posted six consecutive wins over the Big 12 North having won games over Nebraska, Kansas and Kansas State each of the last two years. BIG DAY FOR BATCH Junior Baron Batch became the second Texas Tech running back this season to score four touchdowns in a game when he did so against the Kansas Jayhawks on Oct. 31. Batch rushed for four touchdowns in the game and finished with 123 yards rushing and 13 yards receiving. He became the first Tech running back since Taurean Henderson (A&M in 2005) to score all four touchdowns on the ground. Four TD Games Under Mike Leach 10/31/09 - Kansas - Baron Batch (four rushing) 10/03/09 - New Mexico - Harrison Jeffers (3 rushing, 1 receiving) 11/03/07 - at Baylor - Aaron Crawford (2 rushing, 2 receiving) 11/05/05 - Texas A&M - Taurean Henderson (four rushing) 10/27/01 - at Baylor - Ricky Williams (four rushing) 10/28/00 - at Kansas - Derek Dorris (four receptions) *Derek Dorris is the only player above that was not a running back. BATCH EARNS OFFENSIVE HONORS FROM BIG 12 Junior running back Baron Batch was rewarded by the Big 12 Conference on Nov. 2 as he picked up the weekly offensive player of the week honors. Batch rushed for four touchdowns and 123 yards in a 42-21 win over Kansas that gave the Red Raiders their sixth win of the season. He joins teammates Steven Sheffield (Oct. 12) and Brandon Sharpe (Oct. 19) as previous winners of the weekly award this season. DOEGE MAKES FIRST CAREER START Redshirt freshman quarterback Seth Doege made his first career start for the Red Raiders against Kansas and became the third different quarterback to start for Texas Tech this season. Doege also became the first redshirt freshman to start a game at quarterback in the Mike Leach era. DEFENSE MAKES A STATEMENT AGAINST KANSAS Ruffin McNeil's defensive made the statement they wanted. McNeil's unit held one of the nation's most potent offenses (No. 5 nationally in total offense coming into the game) to just 258 yards and played a major role in four Jayhawk turnovers. Texas Tech's pass rush was dominant against the Jayhawks as the Red Raiders recorded six sacks for a total loss of 45 yards. Senior defensive end Brandon Sharpe led way with 2.5 sacks and he now totals 10.5 on the season. - The Kansas game was the fifth time this season that Tech has held an opponent to under 300 yards of total offense.
- Cornerback LaRon Moore returned a fumble for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give Tech a 35-21 lead. The fumble return for the touchdown was the second by the Tech defense this season (last was Daniel Howard at Nebraska).
HOLY COW! Texas Tech has long been known for its ability to score quickly and 2009 is no exception. The Red Raider offense has scored 11 times this season in under a minute and 18 times in less than two minutes. EFFECTIVE IN THE RED-ZONE Texas Tech has been very effective in the red-zone this season as Tech has scored on 35 of 41 trips (85%). Over the last six games, Tech is 24-of-27 in the red-zone and has scored 24 touchdowns. RED RAIDERS FOLLOWING THE BYE WEEK Texas Tech will be looking for its third win under Mike Leach in the week following a bye. The Red Raiders are 2-3 all-time under Leach in the game following a bye week. ONE MORE AND WE GO BOWLING Texas Tech needs just one more win to become bowl eligible for the 16th-straight season. The Red Raiders have been bowl eligible in each of the last 15 seasons, which is a Big 12 Conference record. In all, Texas Tech has played in 32 bowl games which ranks 17th nationally. RED RAIDERS LOOKING FOR A PIECE OF HISTORY Texas Tech will face its sixth consecutive ranked opponent on the road (dating back to the 2008 season) on Saturday when the Red Raiders face No. 17/18 Oklahoma State in Stillwater. A win over the Cowboys would mean a significant piece of history for this year's team as they would be the first Tech squad to defeat two ranked opponents (in their home stadium) on the road in a single season. - Tech has previously won two road games against ranked opponents in a single season but in each case one of those wins were in bowl games and thus a neutral site (1989 and 1973).
