LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Kristy Curry announced today that redshirt sophomore Kaylan Talley will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee.
Talley, a 6-5 center from Waco, Texas, transferred to Tech after her freshman season at Clarendon College. She redshirted the 2007-08 season after tearing the ACL in her right knee during the summer of 2007. Talley is expected to undergo surgery at the end of December.
"We are all devastated for Kaylan having to go through an ACL tear in each knee in her first two years at Texas Tech," said Curry. "There is no doubt she would give us a totally different dimension in the paint. She has a tremendous work ethic and amazing character. These qualities will help her persevere through this adversity to have three years of eligibility as a Lady Raider."
At the end of the season, Tech will apply for a medical redshirt for Talley in hopes of maintaining her three years of eligibility.
