LUBBOCK, Texas - Two former Texas Tech student-athletes, Royce Ramey (men's tennis) and Ashley Ready (softball), have been featured in a new book entitled The College Athlete's Guide to Academic Success: Tips from Peers and Profs. The book offers advice and insight from 35 college athletes who graduated from 16 different universities across the nation.
Ramey came to Tech in 2000, finishing his collegiate tennis career ranked 89th in the nation and named All-Big 12 singles. He then received the Big 12 Postgraduate Scholarship and went on to be a student-assistant under head Coach Tim Siegel until he graduated in 2002 with a master's in finance.
Ready, a three-year letterman on the women's softball team, also received her master's degree at Tech. After finishing her eligibility, she continued with the program as a graduate assistant for the softball team in 2003.
Published by Pearson Prentice Hall with a Foreword by NCAA President Myles Brand, the book features former student-athletes, along with time-tested advice from two college faculty with decades of experience teaching and mentoring student-athletes.
