
Tech Picks Up First Conference Road Win

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Red Raiders took the Aggies to five games in which Texas Tech came out on top by a score of 3-2 at Texas A&M. The win marks the first Big 12 away match that Tech has won and the first overall since September 9th at South Florida. The Red Raiders are now 9-7 on the season and 2-5 in conference matches.
The Aggies took the first game by a score of 30-27 to which Tech responded by winning the second frame 30-28. Texas A&M returned in game three to hit its best percentage of the night, .235, to win 33-31. Tech came back fighting and out-hit A&M .214 to .109 to win 30-22 and send the match to a final game. With momentum on their side, the Red Raiders jumped to a 5-0 lead in the fifth frame. Despite a late effort, the Aggies were not able to overcome the deficit and fell 15-12.
Philister Sang notched a double-double with 28 kills and 19 digs. Kiley Lyons recorded a season-high 24 digs and added three block assists. Amy Charlebois knocked down eight blocks (two solo, six assisted) along with 10 kills. Brittany Hughes also registered double-digits in kills with 11. Amanda Hiller and Jenn Harrell each added to the defensive effort with 14 and 13 digs, respectively.
The Red Raiders will return to action next Wednesday with a home match against Oklahoma. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
