
Men's Golf Inks One to 2004-05 Squad

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's golf coach Greg Sands announced today the signing of Christopher Gold of Haddonfield, N.J., to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Red Raider golf team next season.
The Haddonfield native is currently a senior at Haddonfield Memorial High School where he was nationally ranked in the top 100 junior golfers by Golfweek.com.
Gold's accomplishments include taking first at the AJGA Solutions Consulting at Totteridge Golf Club, third in the AJGA Marsh at Apawamis, ninth in the AJGA Parker at Fieldstone and placed third at the Optimist National Championship at the PGA National Resort and Spa.
The future Red Raider was also voted the All-South Jersey Player of the Year years and qualified for the Tournament of Champions for three-straight years, while placing first and second in regionals. During his junior year Gold was voted the Philadelphia PGA selection player of the year averaging a 70.9 for his sophomore summer.
Gold qualified for the Canadian Tour Event in May of 2004 after shooting a 67 at Stoney Creek Golf Club, while also qualifying for a spot at the United States Amateur at Winged Foot in 2004.
"Christopher will be a great addition to next year's Red Raider golf team," said Sands. "His amateur experience, along with his success in high school will make him a perfect fit in the already solid program that we have here at Tech. Gold has shown a hard work ethic and I look forward to working with him for the next four years."
Christopher is the son of Gene and Amy Gold who along their son have four daughters; Courtney, Maria, Natalie and Emily.
