LUBBOCK - To kick-off the Red Raider baseball and softball seasons, the Tech Hecklers, the Student Red Raider Club and Student Activities Board are hosting the inaugural First Pitch Film Festival. The Film Festival will be held in the UC Allen Theatre on Thursday, February 8, the day before the Red Raider baseball team hosts Cal State-Northridge.
The event will begin at 6:30pm with an autograph session by the 2001 Red Raider baseball team, followed by the showing of "Major League" and "Bull Durham." In between the movies, door prizes will be given away and the 2001 Red Raider baseball team will be recognized. The softball team will be out of town.
"We wanted to create a lot of hype for the beginning of baseball season because this team has huge potential and we want people out there watching these guys," said Heckler Chris Snead. Admission is the donation of one sports-related toy to be given to the Ronald McDonald House.
"Since we were bringing all these sports enthusiasts together, we decided it would be a great opportunity for us all to give back to the community in a sports-related way - that's how we came up with the idea of the toy donation to the Ronald McDonald House," said Heckler Britta Tye.
