LUBBOCK, Texas - Golfweek.com released its Top 50 men's golf rankings with Texas Tech receiving its highest-ranking 24th in the nation so far this season, and two Red Raiders placing in Golfweek's Top 50 men's individual ratings list.
Texas Tech, one of only four Big 12 schools ranked in the top 25, claimed two tournaments so far this season at the SFA Crown Classic in Lufkin, Texas, and the Mid Pines Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C. The Red Raiders shot a team best round of 844 (281, 284, 279) at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate, setting the record for Tech's Top 10 54-hole scores of all time.
Senior David Bolen stands steady at 22nd in the nation, winning his first title of the season at the Cardinal Classic earlier this week. The Austin, Texas, native is having an explosive fall season with a win under his belt, placing second at the SFA Crown Classic and finishing third at the season-opener Mid Pines Intercollegiate.
Teammate Brad Jacobson is also having an impressive season, finishing sixth at the Cardinal Classic and placing fifth at the SFA Crown Classic. The 6-3 sophomore from Hayti, S.D., is ranked 41st in the nation, setting his career best low round 70 at the Cardinal Classic so far this season.
Wake Forest men's golf team leads the nation followed by Tennessee (2), Florida (3) and Oklahoma State (4), with Georgia Tech (5) rounding out the top five. The Big 12 schools ranked in the top 25 are Oklahoma State (4), Texas (7), Oklahoma (14) and Texas Tech (24).
The Red Raiders are in Palo Alto, Calif., from Oct. 26-28 to compete in The Nelson tournament, seeking their third title of the fall season.
