LUBBOCK, Texas - The near-century mark temperatures didn't prevent the Texas Tech football team from preparing for this week's game with North Texas. The Eagles have beaten the Red Raiders three of the last four games, including last season's 21-19 win in Lubbock.
"No, not really. The heat didn't bother us at all," strong safety Kevin Curtis said. "We went out there today to try and get better. We focused on stopping the run today and we got better."
The Red Raiders began implementing their game plan for North Texas, working the offense and defense against the scout teams. In between group and team workouts, the special teams worked on fine-tuning their respective games.
"We looked good today, especially during team period," head coach Mike Leach said. "We struggled at times, but for the most part had a pretty good afternoon."
Texas Tech hosts the Eagles Sat., Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. at Jones SBC Stadium. The game is the third of four straight home games for the Red Raiders to open the season. Eight games are slated for the artificial turf of Jones SBC Stadium this season.
