Blackout Lifted for Tonight's Game

LUBBOCK, Texas - The scheduled blackout of tonight's football season opener against New Mexico has been lifted. Gerald Myers, Texas Tech Director of Athletic, announced the lifting of the television blackout after ticket sales approached 41,000 this morning.
"We are lifting the proposed blackout due to the increase in ticket sales over the last 24 hours," Myers said. "We would like to thank the city of Lubbock, surrounding communities and all Texas Tech fans for coming out in support of Red Raider football."
Texas Tech kicks off the season at 7 p.m. tonight against New Mexico at Jones SBC Stadium in the Transamerica Hispanic College Fund Football Classic. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office through halftime of tonight's game. Fans may also purchase tickets by dialing 742-TECH or 1-888-GO-BIG-12 or on-line at www.texastech.com. Tickets are $35 each, while Tech students can purchase tickets for $10 with a valid Tech Student ID.
